The 3D virtual campus frames efficient new media for collaborative education. It allows lectures, workshops and exercises, with synchronous connections for users. The instant reactivity of this 3D site makes immediate appropriation easier for students and teachers, and thus, builds a users’ community with a great level of participation. The connected users can help one another by sharing their knowledge. Considering cost or hazard while using real equipments, distance learners can carry out tasks in a safe and cost-effective way in virtual environments. The ITS(Intelligent Tutoring System) supplies additional help to learners and teachers. The client-server architecture of GE3D is standard, inexpensive and adapted to the needs and equipment of developing countries. The actual prototype demonstrates the use of GE3D in a common scenario for a course on PLC’s (Programmable Logical Controllers). The second project is about the assessment of students' achievments. E-learning consists in using computers tools to improve learning in a traditional or virtual classroom environment. One difficulty of this research field is to model the students and therefore to assess their knowledges. We have worked on this problem for seven years with the particularity to use machine learning algorithms to assess students' achievements. Indeed, we make the hypothesis that using those algorithms with a adapted similarity measure between students' achievements allow us to create some generic and efficient aided assessment systems.
